Psalm a day - day 6 - Saturday 15th October

Psalm 14
1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
4 Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?
5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

in my opinion, this Psalm is saying that those who dont believe in God are fools. they are not capable of doing good. in verse 2 it says that the Lord is looking for those who do believe and who understand. It seems to be a negative Psalm as it is putting forward negitive points, "all have turned aside", "evildoers". this Psalm seems, in a sense, to be angry.

i cant really think of anything else at the moment. i think my beanie hat has warmed my brain up too much.

anyways speak soon,

psalm a day -day 4/5 - Thursday 13th Oct/friday 14th Oct.

heylo! sorry i didnt post yesterday i didnt have time. my thursdays are so busy these days. obviously i had school, which took up most of the day but after school i had a hockey match (we won 3-0 again!) and then i came home and went straight out for macdonalds then singing company and band practises! am tired but as its you thats missing out on my blog..i thought i'd blog my two Psalms before i go out to footy!

Psalm 67 - Thursday's Psalm

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song.
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, [Selah]
2 that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
3 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. [Selah]
5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.
7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

This Psalm is a song. a Psalm of praise and prayer asking for these certain things to happen. Selah means pause, so this particular Psalm has been written the way a song would be written. Although it may not be obvious these things are happening, slowly but surely, we just have to help them happen.

Psalm 51 - Friday's Psalm
For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.

1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.
14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Well i have to say this psalm is rather long and tricky, but being an officers kid i have an advantage...my mum and dad.....'s books!!! haha. but as well as these books i also have my own views, so its a mixture really.

at the beginning, it says that David had committed adultery. this psalm is asking forgiveness as David realised what he had done wrong. He wanted to start again and put the past behind him and try again. this is what we should do. even though we make mistakes, the lessons we learn and the forgiveness of God helps our faith grow stronger. David takes full responsibility for what happened and didnt let Bethsheba take any of the guilt. he says that its only against God that he has sinned. god is the only one who can get rid of our sins so David pleads for it. the main thing is David realised what he did wrong. If we all do this and know our rights from wrongs then the world will become a better place and it may even start to fullfil those prayers in Psalm 67.

We all need help sometimes and God is the only way to go right.

If you need help understanding anything just ask,

Psalm a day - Wednesday 12th October - day 3

mmmmmmmm i wonder which psalm today? 1? 54? 38? who knows lets take a dip into www.biblegateway.com ....

thought i'd pick the smallest today: Psalm 117

1 Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples.
2 For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD.

this Psalm puts a song into my head....(8)his love endures forever....his love endures forever..forever...(8)

sorry drifting away there... i think this Psalm is just telling us that no matter what happens God's love is the same and is always here. just to clarify i think i know the meaning of endure....i think ill just find out now..:
Endure: 1 - To continue in existence; last: buildings that have endured for centuries.
2 - To carry on through, despite hardships; undergo: endure an Arctic winter.

i think i got it right yay! so as i said no matter what happens....his love for us will stay the same and will always be here.

anyways, enough for now,
speak tomorrow,

review on psalm 8-previous psalm/psalm a day-day two

Psalm 8
this psalm is about how great our God is. In verse two it says that "from the lips of little children and infants you have orphaned praise". That is true just look at me and my fellow alpha squad. this psalm is a psalm of praise, praising the Lord for the stars moon, everything that he created. Also its asking serious unanswered question. Why does he care for us the way he does? he crowned us with glory and honour he put us in charge of his beautiful animals and plants, but all we're doing now is destroying all that he's given to us. we're throwing everything back to him. but still after all this he still loves us and cares. why?

thats something that i just cant answer.

Psalm of the day - tuesday 11th October - 2nd day
Psalm

1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."
7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

in my point of view, this Psalm is telling a story. at the beginning its saying that the rulers of the day have decided to try to go against everything that the Lord has said (feels like we're have way there in this world) but the Lord is so powerful that noone will be able to overpower him. its like a slight warning to say that dont bother wasting your time trying to over power the Lord. it says that those who love him, believe in him and worship him fully, will be saved, they are blessed.

well thats all i have on that psalm for now, i'll study it a bit more ontop of all me other cousreworks and homeworks, see if i can find something else....
until next time,

psalm a day day one

as you may know ive been asked to do a psalm a day. i didnt know what one to choose so i asked my mum and dad:
"give me a random psalm"
"what for thought you were doing homework!"
"i have"
"o ok er psalm 8"
heres my day one psalm ill review it tomorrow:
A psalm of David.
1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise [
b] because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings [
c] and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Bible what is it and what does it do??

today we talked about the Bible. what does the Bible mean to us? how is it communicating?
We said it was like a guide to life. an instruction booklet. but is it?

We looked at a guide, an old one. we figured that guides change. nothing stays the same. We realised that the Bible has not changed apart from the fact that it has changed language. if the Bible never changes and is the same all the time, always having reference to our lives 2000years ago to now and even 2000years ahead too. we figured that its like a compass. always pointing the right way.

its a simple way to look at it but it is effective.

anyway thats all we did this week,

Faith - part 2

Today we look at God's promises to us.
Revelation 3:20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

He is wanting to knock on your heart's door. Let Him in and feel the presence of Him within you. All He wants is to get to know you and for you to get to know Him.

Matthew 28:20: "and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

He will always be there till your end, till THE end.

John 10:28: "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."

We will never die if we believe. He will never let go of us we will always be in his hands, in his care. never will we part. Even if we dont believe he still loves you.

Faith 3 (cant be bothered to write a big name)

Faith: today we looked at several bible readings. look:

Romans 8:9 : "You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ."

Romans 8:15-16 : "For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children."

Galations 5:22-23 : "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

When you have a faith (i'm still trying to find mine) the Spirit lives in you and controls you (not in a bad way!). If you dont believe then you dont belong to Him. This doesnt mean he's deserted you it just means that he just doesnt want to force you into believing in him if you dont want to.

whatever you choose to do he will still love you and look after you. in his eyes we are his children, so we are all brothers and sisters (no wonder he asks us to love one another).

The fruits of the Spirit are given to us if we ask to help us become better people day in day out. Only ask and he will give. In this world at this time it is getting harder and harder for me and fellow youth alpha/ older Christains to keep our faith. The other day my friends wanted to go out to thier mates for a drink (alcohol) they asked me whether i would like to go and the peer pressure put on me was so demanding i just couldnt take it. i cryed. the temptation in the world with the drinks and the drugs is just so demanding, people are finding it harder and harder to keep thier faith. Im determined not to be dragged in and determined to stay put. im in the Lords hands, i leave it to him.

How can i be sure of my faith? (part1)

These days people will believe anything. anything at all. Yetis, loch ness monster, aliens and even moon landings being faked which is just not right at all. these people have being putting all their effort into proving that these things are true or false. what a total waste of time.

people also think that believing in God is a waste of time, well thats your choice but i know it isnt.

If you want evidence then here it is:
2 Corthinains 5:17 -Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Revelation 3:20 -
20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Matthew 28:20-and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
John 10:28 -I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.

These are the promises of God. he promises them to each and every one of you.

if you believe these then you are building up your faith just like when you believe in the supernatural things. but these verses pove its true. its up to you what you want to believe.

more in part 2 next time.

Who is Jesus?? well here you go....!!

Well we all know that different people have different ideas about who Jesus was and i;d be happy to see them, but there are a few things that we know for definate about Him.
-We know Jesus existed
- we know He was Jewish
- we know He was born in Bethlehem in Judaea around 4bc
- Famous as a great teacher and miracle worker
-crucified by the Romans
-His followers believed (like me) He was the Son of God and that He rose from the dead. The followers took the news all over the world.
-The New Tesament is the best source of infomation.

Jesus was Human

He had a body and experienced emtions and decisions just like us. the only thing we need to ask is: "was he more than human..?..was He God???

Point two
Jesus claimed He was the bread of life, the light of the world and the resurrection the truth and the life. He claimed to be able toforgive sins, he climed he was the Messiah, that He was the Son of God and that He would judge the world.

Question : why do we believe that Jesus was not a bad man or a con man but the one and only God man??

Point three:

The Evidence:
His teachings
what he did
His character
His fulfilment of the Old Testament and
When he rose from the dead.

We might not know what he looked like exactly but we do know he was human and he expirenced the same things we're goin through. if anyone its him that we should ask (prayer) what to do when we are in trouble. he knows exactly what to do.

any questions please ask,

In the beggining....(of freddies blog)

I, freddie cafone, am part of a youth alpha group in the northwest of england. Alpha is a course in which young people (yp) learn about Christianity, God and God's son - Jesus. There are three of us schlurple the purple, squelch and me.

1st session: Christianity: boring, untrue and irrelevant? or not?

I'm young and this is the start of the 21st century. what on earth has Christianity have to offer me??? well here you will find out!...

what is your opinion??

BoRiNg:

Christianity is not boring (unless your parents are leading the sermons). Christianity is full of interesting stories and mysteries. It's full of cool worship songs and dramas. In fact Christianity works well with almost anything. Drama, music, art and I.T (as demonstrated).

UnTrUe:

Christianity. what do you think it is??? Personnally, I think and know it is true. there are load of evidence - the main one the Bible. Christianity is not untrue, it IS the truth. people mix these up often! have a look for yourself and pick up a Bible- dont be afraid!

IrReLeVaNt:

even though the Bible was written years ago, its purpose is the same. the stories in the Bible relate to everyday life not just for those who lived in the times it was written, but for us too. the stories are written for us to put to use in our lives, it transforms the way we think, live and react to decisions that are tough. why do you think God sent Jesus? to do the same thing.

hope ya understand...if not please ask.

c ya next time freddie cafone xxxxx
