Psalm 67 - Thursday's Psalm

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song.
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, [Selah]
2 that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
3 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. [Selah]
5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.
7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

This Psalm is a song. a Psalm of praise and prayer asking for these certain things to happen. Selah means pause, so this particular Psalm has been written the way a song would be written. Although it may not be obvious these things are happening, slowly but surely, we just have to help them happen.

Psalm 51 - Friday's Psalm
For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.

1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.
14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Well i have to say this psalm is rather long and tricky, but being an officers kid i have an advantage...my mum and dad.....'s books!!! haha. but as well as these books i also have my own views, so its a mixture really.

at the beginning, it says that David had committed adultery. this psalm is asking forgiveness as David realised what he had done wrong. He wanted to start again and put the past behind him and try again. this is what we should do. even though we make mistakes, the lessons we learn and the forgiveness of God helps our faith grow stronger. David takes full responsibility for what happened and didnt let Bethsheba take any of the guilt. he says that its only against God that he has sinned. god is the only one who can get rid of our sins so David pleads for it. the main thing is David realised what he did wrong. If we all do this and know our rights from wrongs then the world will become a better place and it may even start to fullfil those prayers in Psalm 67.

We all need help sometimes and God is the only way to go right.

If you need help understanding anything just ask,
